Do you make sandwiches at home? Fast-food–style? Whole-grain? A sandwich is such a simple, tasty, and often even healthy thing. I’ll share some favorite combinations, and I’d love to hear about yours.
Experiment with bread: whole grain, sprouted, rye, onion. The key is fresh, crunchy, and fragrant.
Try different sauces and chutneys - they should complement the main filling perfectly: onion marmalade, tomato chutney, pepper chutney, apple chutney, or various fruit and berry preserves.
Remember the cheeses: goat, sheep, soft, aged, with mold or without.
The more greens the better: basil, cilantro, tarragon, lettuce leaves, sprouts.
Meat (if you eat it): boiled, smoked, prosciutto, salami, bresaola, chorizo, etc.
Today’s breakfast included:
- sandwich with chili paste, prosciutto, and arugula
- sandwich with quince-citrus confit, Parmesan, and cilantro
Other favorites:
- chorizo, onion marmalade, and lots of greens (lettuce, mâche, or baby mix)
- soft goat cheese, dill, and pickles
