Ginger tea comes in many variations. Cinnamon, cardamom, black pepper, nutmeg, and cloves are the most commonly used ingredients. It can be brewed with or without milk.
- 500 ml water
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 2 cm ginger root
- ¼ lemon or lime (juice squeezed)
- 3 green cardamom pods
- ½ tsp. honey
Bring the water to a boil, add the peeled and sliced ginger, then immediately remove from heat. Add the lightly crushed cardamom, cinnamon sticks, and freshly squeezed lemon or lime juice. Let it steep for a while. If you’re making ginger tea for medicinal purposes, let it simmer for 5–7 minutes, then add the spices and allow it to infuse. Honey should be added once the tea has cooled slightly.
