This pie is a true gem for lovers of delicious and unique dishes. While it may not be the healthiest option, it’s worth indulging in from time to time! The tender crust, juicy filling of sautéed onions and eggs, and the aroma of fresh herbs make this pie absolutely irresistible.

Ingredients
cooking

For the dough:

  • 125 g of butter
  • 1.5 cups of flour (grind with butter)
  • 0.5 teaspoons of soda, quenched with vinegar
  • 0.5 cups of sour cream

For the filling:

  • 4 large onions (fry)
  • 4 eggs (3 yolks, 4 whites + 1 yolk separately for greasing)
  • Greens: parsley, dill, cilantro (to your taste)
  • Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper

For the dough, start by rubbing the butter into the flour, then add the baking soda and sour cream. Knead the dough and divide it into two parts—these will be the two crusts.

Next, we can move on to fillings: finely chop the onions and sauté them in oil until golden brown. Let the mixture cool, then add 3 egg yolks and 4 egg whites. Mix well, and add fresh herbs, salt, and pepper to taste.

After, place the bottom crust into a baking dish with edges. Spread the filling evenly over it, then cover with the top crust and pinch the edges to seal. Brush the top crust with egg yolk.

The last step is to preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the cake for 35-40 minutes until it is covered with a golden crust.

Serve warm or chilled. This cake will be a great addition to lunch or dinner, and is also perfect for unexpected guests. Enjoy!
