What can you do with frozen fish fillets? Of course, you can rub them with herbs, drizzle with lemon, and bake in the oven, but a big block of frozen fish might shrink into a small, slightly dried-out piece if the fillet isn’t the best quality. That’s why I suggest a simpler and tastier option — a fish pie.
- 600 g sea fish fillets (pollock, hake, etc.)
- 2 slices of white bread
- 200 ml of milk
- 1 onion
- 2 carrots
- 3 potatoes
- A small bunch of dill and parsley
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- Sea salt and freshly ground black pepper
Boil the carrots and potatoes with their skins on, then let them cool and peel them. Grate them using a coarse grater. Cut the crust off the bread, soak it in milk, and mash it. Chop the fish fillet in a blender or meat grinder and mix it with the bread.
Sauté the onion until golden brown and finely chop the herbs. Add them to the potatoes and carrots, season with salt and pepper, and divide the mixture into two parts.
In a baking dish, layer half of the vegetables, followed by the fish mixture, and then the remaining vegetables on top. Cover with foil and bake at 180°C for about 30 minutes. If you’d like, brush the top with an egg and bake for another 5 minutes.
It will turn out delicious!
