This is as simple as it gets: regular flour, sugar (or honey), good butter, and plenty of apples — twice as much as in most traditional recipes. That’s what makes this cake so moist and fragrant.
- 6–8 medium apples
- 1 cup flour
- 2/3 cup sugar (or honey)
- 3 eggs
- a generous pinch of cinnamon
- 50 g butter
- a pinch of salt
Blend all the ingredients, except for the apples, until smooth. Wash the apples, remove the cores, and cut into pieces. Grease a baking dish with butter, arrange the apples, and pour the batter over them. Bake at 180°C / 350°F. In a wide, shallow dish, it takes about 35–40 minutes; in a smaller, deeper dish, up to 55 minutes to bake through.
